The 51-year-old “artist” had to bore two holes in the wall to hang his artwork in Munich’s Pinakothek der Moderne.
The guy reportedly attempted the trick in the hopes of making it big as an artist, according to local media.
The artwork did not remain on show for long, according to the gallery representative.
“The supervisors notice something like this immediately,” Tine Nehler told the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung, adding that the artist got her work back.
The individual falsely claimed to be a freelance artist while working for the gallery’s technical services staff.
His artwork, which was displayed in a vacant hallway, had dimensions of 23 by 47 inches (60 by 120 centimeters).
He is no longer employed and is also not allowed to enter the gallery.
Among other things, the museum showcases works by Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, and Max Ernst, making it one of the biggest galleries in Europe dedicated to contemporary art.
A such occurrence occurred in Bonn, Germany, a few months ago.
The staff of the Bundeskunsthalle discovered an additional artwork on display by an audience member as they were preparing to wrap up a show.
We want to meet the creator and find it humorous. Therefore, contact us! Nothing is wrong. In a post titled “Word of Honor,” the gallery used to X (previously Twitter) to share their offerings.
The artist in question did, in fact, contact the recipient to claim ownership of the artwork.
According to Danai Emmanouilidis, having an exhibition of her paintings was a lifelong goal of hers. She mentioned sneaking it in by wearing a large sweatshirt over her pants, as she explained to WDR, a local public station.
