The seventh edition of Sydney Contemporary, featuring an impressive roster of leading galleries and artists, is scheduled for September 2023. Over $100 million has been made in art sales since the fair’s inception in 2013, and 2023 is expected to break that record.

This year, more than 500 established and upcoming artists will be displayed at Carriageworks in Sydney, where 96 galleries will converge. Australian photographer Murray Fredericks will have a solo show at ARC ONE in Melbourne, and Yolu artist Dhambit Munugurr will have a solo exhibition at Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery in Sydney. British artist Antony Gormley will have a solo presentation at the international Gallery Continua’s booth in the Sydney space. Artists from Australia, China, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States will be among the 35 countries represented at the show.

There will be both local and foreign galleries featured. In addition to returning venues like Everywhen Artspace in Flinders, Redbase Art Gallery in both Sydney and Yogyakarta and Tezukayama Gallery in Osaka, 18 new galleries will be participating this year.

Sydney Contemporary Founder and Co-Owner Tim Etchells states that “Sydney Contemporary has been firmly established as the most influential art fair in the region, providing the most concentrated week of art sales annually in Australia. The distinctive setting of Carriageworks in the stunning destination of Sydney makes for an incredible week of art and we look forward to welcoming collectors and art lovers from across the region to enjoy our strongest program to date. With an expanded footprint of galleries, programming, and supporting events, this edition will be a Fair not to be missed.”

Sydney’s Sullivan+Strumpf, Yavuz Gallery, Chalk Horse, OLSEN Gallery, Gallery Sally Dan-Cuthbert, Martin Browne Contemporary, COMA, Michael Reid, Fox Jensen, Fine Arts, Sydney, and STATION will all be present. Several galleries from Melbourne, including Neon Parc, Alcaston Gallery, and Niagara Galleries, as well as EDWINA CORLETTE from Brisbane, GAGPROJECTS, and Hugo Michell Gallery from Adelaide, will be attending. PAULNACHE and STARKWHITE, two New Zealand artists, will also attend the fair.

Krack Studio of Yogyakarta and 16albermarle Project Space of Sydney are just two of the 22 galleries from Australia and Indonesia that will be showcasing the finest works on paper in the PAPER area of the expo. In close proximity, the FUTURE sector will showcase the upcoming projects of emerging art spaces such as Jennings Kerr in Robertson, New South Wales; Laree Payne Gallery in Hamilton, New Zealand; LON Gallery in Melbourne; Void_Melbourne in Melbourne; Diginner Gallery in Tokyo; EG Projects in Fremantle, Western Australia; and Sweet Pea in Perth, Western Australia.
