For the second year in a row, Luigi Fassi oversaw the success of Artissima, the International Fair of Contemporary Art, which attracted 34,000 attendees over the course of four days. The year 2023 was a remarkable edition that brought a surge of worldwide vigour to all of Torino.

At its 30th anniversary, Artissima reaffirms its stance as an experimental, cutting-edge fair by creating new initiatives, increasing the show’s ability to draw in the world’s most intriguing galleries, artists, collectors, and curators. Capitalising on years of discovery, study, and relations, the 2023 edition renews its dedication to ground-breaking practises and its position as a springboard for emerging artists and galleries.

Artissima 2023 took place in the Oval Lingotto of Turin, presenting the fair’s four flagship sections there: Main Section, New Entries, Monologue/Dialogue, and Art Spaces & Editions; as well as three curated sections: Disegni, curated by Irina Zucca Alessandrelli; Present Future, curated by Maurin Dietrich and Saim Demircan; and Back to the Future, curated by Defn.

Luigi Fassi said :

“We conclude this 30th edition with the certainty of having achieved very positive results, spreading from the Oval to have an impact on the city at large. We are pleased to have contributed to bring new energy, resources, relations, ideas and proposals to the world of contemporary art, weaving positive and effective relationships with the city’s institutions to create a true network, inside and outside the fair. I am grateful to all those who have generated the success of this edition, which we have imagined as a sort of time machine, capable of bringing further impetus for the future: we have put questions into focus, trying to respond to the urgent necessities of our present, building bridges and relationships, expanding the boundaries of the gaze. Artissima embodies the talent of a laboratory of growth and development for the art of our time, becoming an ideal crossroads for all its protagonists. Our goal has always been to produce an event that derives force from the territory that hosts it, while engaging in a dialogue with the world”.

Intesa Sanpaolo returns as Main Partner for the fourth year in a row to help produce Artissima. Beginning in the first months of 2023, the fair has attracted over 1,600 new collectors, including 900 from abroad and 700 within Italy, solidifying its position as a major event on the global art scene. About 12,000 art industry professionals, including several museum curators and directors, attended Artissima this year. This shows the global respect and significance that this event continues to receive.

The New Entries BAR, a project curated by Cripta747 and formulated to support the research of the galleries in the New Entries section and their artists, and a body of photographs by Luca Locatelli were among the highlights of the 2023 edition. Artissima Junior, a joint initiative between Artissima and Juventus, gave kids aged 6 to 11 the chance to be the centre of a creative operation led by artist Eugenio Tibaldi. The Beyond Production Symposium was part of a programme of research at OGR Torino and the Fondazione for l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT that explored the interplay between technological innovation, artistic expression, and societal change. The AudioGuides, six thematic audio path to accompany visitors on a personal tour through the stands at the fair, in collaboration with Lauretana and powered by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo; the multimedia review of cultural research Lucy. Sulla cultura in dibattito, conceived and coordinated by the magazine CURA. with the support of Jaguar, to explore the theme of the 2023 edition;

Many projects and collaborations were engaged with public and private institutions and organisations, allowing Artissima to expand beyond the confines of the Oval Lingotto.
